03-12-07 - ADR Test for Young Romanian, Marinescu
The ADR F3 team tested young Romanian talent Mihai Marinescu at a damp Brands Hatch early last week. The two day test was conducted in one of their Championship class F3 cars and the 18 year old who had never seen the circuit before showed few nerves as he took to the Indy circuit.
Due to the conditions the team embarked on exploring new directions in wet set-up, and were very impressed with the Formula Renault Eurocup racer’s feedback considering his lack of experience in F3 and brands Hatch.
Looking seriously at a move into the British F3 International Series – which has produced stars such as legends Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell and Nelson Piquet – Mihai admitted that the test had whetted his appetite for more.
“We had a good test together” said ex-Karter Marinescu “The car felt great in the wet conditions. It’s a shame we didn’t get to run on slicks, but hopefully that will come at the next test at Oulton Park. |
13-11-07- Festival Winner Tests with ADR
McLaren Autosport BRDC Award Finalist and Formula Ford Festival Winner Nick Tandy experienced the power and grip of Formula Three machinery last week at Pembrey circuit thanks to former British F3 Champions ADR. The young Tandy who hails from Bedford set about learning his new environment in a cool and professional manner, setting competitive times straight out of the box. Having completed around a hundred laps of the 1.5 mile circuit, Nick had continued to improve by lapping consistently in the 49s topping the end of the day off with a 49.5 second lap. This was no mean feat for a man lapping on used rubber, the team knowing that new tyres are worth around three quarters of a second.
“We have been very impressed with how Nick has gone about his business today.” commented ADR’s Team Manager BA Mitchell. “To set those kinds of times without new rubber is impressive. What’s more is even at the end he was still getting quicker; with more running and new tyres I think 48s would’ve been on the cards, Nick is a very promising young talent.”
The ADR crew are now busy in preparation for more testing next week.

30-10-07- ADR Launches Test Program
ADR’s formula three team was out at a cold and windy Snetterton last week as part of their winter testing program. The aim for the day was to evaluate two young Aussie hopefuls with a view to racing in the UK in 2008. Ashley Walsh and Joshua Scott spent the previous week at Brands Hatch competing in the prestigious Formula Ford Festival in the Aussie built Spectrum chassis.
The Monday after the festival both drivers had a seat fitting in the F3 car at ADR’s Silverstone based factory, before moving on to Snetterton. Both drivers settled into their new environment and with the aid of the experienced ADR crew, after a little over fifty laps they were turning out some impressive lap times.
With only two rounds of their native Australian Formula Ford championship remaining and with Ashley Walsh sitting as one of the favourites for taking the title, they embarked on their long journey home.
ADR is looking to evaluate more drivers for their 2008 campaign prior to the testing ban which starts 31st December. With many F3 teams heading off to compete in the Macau Grand Prix, the ADR team is in a fortunate position to have its cars and equipment available for testing, the first time in five years.

04-09-07- Croft Preview
The ADR British F3 team will be back out in force this weekend at Croft. The 2.1 mile circuit located in the north of England near Darlington will play host to rounds 19 and 20 of the Lloyds TSB British F3 International Series.
Australian pilot John Martin is hoping to gain some more points after a baron spell during the last three race meetings. “We’ve hit some bad luck and I hope we can snap out of it at Croft.” he commented on the back of a successful A1GP test for A1 Team Australia.
Francesco Castellacci is aiming for his first points score at the northern venue. “I’ve said all along that this is a learning year, but it would be nice to grab a point or two before the season is out” said the young Italian.
Icelandic racer Viktor Jensen is hunting for victories. “It’s been a while since I’ve been on the podium and my position in the championship has been slipping”. Viktor who is lying fifth in the National Class is only 24 points from third place. “We know our pace is firmly in the top three and I would love to claw back some of those points and make it onto the Championship podium.”

04-07-07- Martin looks forward to revisiting Brands after winning last year in the Forumla Ford Championship.
ADR’s British F3 team go from one historic grand prix circuit to another. Having gotten used to the heat of Italy’s Monza, they head now to Kent’s Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.
Whilst John Martin is looking forward to another points haul, Francesco Castellacci and Viktor Jensen are hoping to improve on their performances last time out.
The brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit provides many challenges, one of which is one of the most famous corners in the world; Paddock Hill Bend. Another is the notorious Westfield, a fast right-hander in the wooded section of the track that claimed many victims on the British F3’s last visit in 2006.
“I know the circuit from racing in Formula Ford here last year” commented AMSF backed John Martin.” We won that race and I hope I can pull a good result out of the bag on this visit too”
ADR will also have Jesse Krohn in action in the UK Formula Ford Championship in the very car that John was successful with last year.

John Martin and Francesco Castellacci re-visit Snetterton just three days after their last race at the circuit. The team will be using on-board cameras to analyse the drivers' progress, in order to suggest improvements to their driving styles and setups for the cars.
Francesco is keen to improve his current form at the next race in his home country. The young Italian has never driven at Monza but aims to impress his home fans with good results.
The next race at Monza is on the 26th of June.

08-05-07 -On the road to Romania
ADR’s Formula 3 Team will descend on the Romanian capital of Bucharest for the first ever race to be held on the city’s streets. Supporting the FIA GTs, this will be the first international race for the British F3 International Series in 2007.
The circuit measures 3.18km and was designed around the impressive Palace of Parliament, a relic of Nicolae Ceausescu’s communist era Romania.
The Palace claims to be the second largest building in the world, only the Pentagon is larger. This will be the furthest from home the British F3 field will have raced in the series’ 43 year history.
ADR’s drivers are relishing the challenge. The young Australian John Martin had this to say; “I can’t wait to get my teeth into the place. I’ve always excelled on street tracks so I hope to carry that forward and pick up some points. Italian Francesco Castellacci is looking forward to a fresh challenge having never before raced on a street course. “Nobody has seen or driven the circuit before and with only an hour and a half of testing, we all have to learn the place as quickly as possible to be competitive.”
